Despite my dark-humoured
lampooning of anime archetypes and
industry satire, It shouldn't surprise
anyone that I started out attempting the
manga style when I was young and I still
respect the art form to this day. If
anything, art styles, like culture, are
always chimeras of many elements and not
just the obvious. Moreover, what better
time to bring out Chimeras than the
Doctor himself who terrorizes the
Tytronitek neighbourhood!
Beginning as a tribute to multiple heyday
anime, only one chapter was ushered out
amidst a busy workload and the project
was shelved. I eventually considered the
path the project was taking quite removed
from its original influence and
considered other genres. A much grittier,
darker reboot was considered during my
Fine Art days, and while I'm happy that
didn't fly, it did introduce Max
Juggernaut and more into the creative
fray. Eventually, Tytronitek was whacked
into Rock Diggler and the Collected Comic
Madness, then that was whacked into Genma
Visage, and that was the end of that.
Presented here is the 1st chapter
finished in 2005 in its original Comic
Sans, typo-encrusted glory, along with
the next 2 incomplete chapters. The new
cover you see was done in 2011 when
Tytronitek was reprinted in Collected
Comic Madness 2. Admittedly, I wrote a
completely new intro prologue on the
first page when I was creating this
gallery. Comic Artist Ryan Jenkins
digitally inked 8 pages of the second
chapter to an extent in 2005 but couldn't
commit further. Extra credit goes to
Elliot Binns for his creative feedback
and suggestions for the villain Linda Von
Esso in chapter 2. Some panels are
directly based on his pencils.
The Tytronitek City Saga is pretty much
canon to Genma Visage, besides the vast
difference in genre, art style and
humour. I'll continue to discuss the
series in its current context. What would
have happened in Chapter 3 was Shiki
would continue to mingle with her new
buddies as Dr Chimera made the move to
test her strength by sending out his
Skele-minions and test-tube monsters,
including a huge Montezuma-Hawaiian
monstrosity. They attack Shiki and
friends during their stay at a local
water park. The ensuing battle strains
Shiki to such a degree that she embraces
a killer instinct to overpower and defeat
the monster, making her question her
origins from the stars. Further chapters
would have more battles and expand on
character development, including MrTamano
and the mysterious herald of Dr Chimera,
the lady biker Ingrid. There would have
been another interloper Chiatzu (pictured
in a battle suit bottom-right on Chapter
3's cover) who would aid Shiki in her
impending clash with Chimera. After this,
the countdown to the endgame and final
battle would have begun. The rest is
history.
If you haven't already, check out the
Bios of Shiki and Chimera in the Cast
section to read up on how the Tytronitek
saga panned out. For further historical
context, I would like to revisit them in
the Lore stories someday in the
foreseeable future.
Several further notes are provided and as
a traditional manga these pages read
right to left.
